A LITTLE WORD KNOW-HOW
Plural Forms in Word Games: Check the Whole Spelling
Learn why adding S is a useful idea, not a universal rule.
Begin with the familiar pattern
Many count nouns form a plural with S, as in CAT and CATS. This can be a useful extension to check during a word hunt, provided another S tile is available.
Watch for changed forms
Some plurals change more than the ending. MOUSE and MICE show why a mechanical “add S” approach is incomplete. The intended meaning can matter too.
Verify acceptance
A form can be grammatically reasonable and still fall outside a game’s chosen list. Our helpers return actual reference entries and keep that scope visible.
