A LITTLE WORD KNOW-HOW

Word Search Strategy: Scan With a Plan

Find hidden words with uncommon letters, endpoints and a consistent search pattern.

Choose one target

Keep one word in mind while scanning. Switching targets after every few cells makes it harder to know which positions you have already checked. A long word with an unusual letter often gives a more useful starting point than a very short common word.

Check direction systematically

At a promising first letter, check each allowed direction. Read the next two letters before tracing a whole long path. If they do not fit, move to the next start rather than forcing a bent path.

Use progress to simplify

Cross found targets off the bank and return to the remaining set. A backward placement follows the same straight-line rule; changing direction halfway through does not.
