A LITTLE WORD KNOW-HOW

How to Use the Hangman Solver

Use known positions and wrong guesses to find matches.

Enter the right information

Known letters stay in their positions. Put failed guesses in the excluded-letters field. If A is already known in the pattern, excluding A creates a contradiction and no word can fit. Fix the input rather than assuming the dictionary is missing the answer.

Work through an example

Try this input: ?A?E. Read the normalized input above the result list before using a suggestion. If a letter or rule looks wrong, correct the field and run the helper again. The displayed result count belongs to that exact set of constraints.

When no words match

Keep your input and check the most restrictive field first. Verify the length, repeated letters, blanks and excluded letters. Then relax one condition at a time. An empty result can be correct; the tool should never fill it with unrelated or invented words.
