A LITTLE WORD KNOW-HOW

Making a Readable Large-Print Word Search

Use fewer cells and clear spacing to make a printed puzzle easier to read.

Start with fewer words

A short word bank and modest grid leave more space for each letter. Enlarging a crowded worksheet after it is built can push it across several pages without making the layout easier to follow.

Simplify the paths

Forward horizontal and vertical words are a useful starting choice for a simpler puzzle. Difficulty also depends on vocabulary and word length, so do not assume large print means easy content.

Inspect a real print preview

Check the letters, word bank and line spacing at the final paper size. The browser’s preview is a better check than the on-screen card alone. Keep a separate matching answer sheet.
