How to Use a Hint Without Revealing the Whole Puzzle
Choose the smallest useful hint and understand when an answer is being disclosed.
Start with the lightest hint
A general pattern or strategy can get you moving without giving away a word or category. Read one hint, return to the puzzle and see whether it changes what you can deduce.
Reveal deliberately
An answer reveal should be a clear separate action. Do not scroll through an unmarked solution while trying to find a small nudge. Our own game reveals mark a result assisted; that is different from changing the game’s ordinary rules.
Check the edition
A useful hint must match the puzzle you are playing. Read the date, game and any edition number. An unverified current edition should say so instead of repackaging yesterday’s answer as today’s.
