A LITTLE WORD KNOW-HOW
How to Play Word Grid: Rules & Worked Tips
A quick guide to playing our word grid game, whether you want a quiet practice round or a counted daily result.
Start with the rules
Trace letters that touch horizontally, vertically or diagonally. A tile can be used only once in one word, but it becomes available again for the next word. Submit words of at least three letters before the three-minute round ends.
Try a useful approach
Look for common beginnings and endings around the board. If you can make RATE, check whether an S touches its last tile without reusing a tile in the path. A word can be in the dictionary and still be impossible on a particular grid.
Understand your result
Three- and four-letter words earn one raw point; five letters earn two; six earn three; seven earn five; eight or more earn eleven. Each distinct word counts once. Daily leaderboard points are twenty times the raw score, capped at 1,000.
